General Lighting: 

General lighting is the overall lighting that illuminates the entire space. Up-lights and down-lights are the two elements of general lighting.

Up-lights:  These lights are pointed in an upward direction, towards the ceiling. Thus the light bounces back, off the ceiling and illuminates the space.

Down-lights: Down lights point downwards from the ceiling or wall and illuminate the floor area directly.

Decorative Lighting:

As the name suggests these lights are employed for decorating the house and to create an overall feeling of elegancy or freshness to your home depending on your style.

Task Lighting:

Task lighting is the one which is used in areas where much focused luminance than the general lighting is needed. Reading area, computer table, chopping area in kitchen, under cabinet areas are few places where task lighting is to be used.
